Who was Cubesmith?
What happened to Cubesmith? For those of you who don’t know Cubesmith’s legacy, they were a company that lived at the domain www.cubesmith.com. However, all that’s left is a godaddy domain free parking site.
Cubesmith specialized in twisty puzzle stickers. They offered many different shades, and precut stickers for many different puzzles. You could customize all of your puzzles with the same color scheme. At one point all of my puzzles sported the cube smith logo. It was fantastic.
Above all, their stickers lasted almost forever. Eventually the edges would get chipped, but it wasn’t a big deal. Who remembers Rubik’s brand puzzles and how their stickers would peel and lose their color? This was a huge problem, as it affected recognition time. Furthermore, the peeling layers would make it harder to grip the cube. Fortunately, modern Rubik’s branded cubes feature a much better sticker solutions. Any serious cuber would have a cube4you DIY type A cube with cube smith replacement stickers.
What Happened to Cubesmith?

So what happened to Cubesmith? Sadly, they’ve closed down. I believe they tried to stay in business. According to the owner, he ran a company along side Cubesmith. When some hard times hit he had to downsize and Cubesmith fell by the wayside. He responded to a reddit thread here. It seemed like he wanted to keep it afloat, but that didn’t happen.

My last surviving Cubesmith stickers are on my first ever speedcube, and my first attempt at puzzle modding. On my cube4you type A DIY speedcube I opted for the tiles. However, on the barrel cube I put the standard stickers on.
Where can I buy stickers now?
Where are sticker’s sold now? There are several options. Unfortunately they don’t have the same prestige that Cubesmith had. Firstly, Amazon has a good option here. Personally I prefer the bright colorscheme sticker sets. Moreover, at the cubicle and speedcubeshop you can find good stickers for many other puzzles.

We closed down because we didn’t have enough customers due to the fact that places like speedcubeshop and the cubicle have stickers now and they sell cubes there too so people just add it to their orders 🙁

Sorry to hear that. Cubesmith was my favorite place to order stickers. And they offered such a huge variety. 🙂

I was a big fan of Cubesmith and even sent them a new sticker model for a french version of the calendar cube. This version has been online for years, and the feedback was really friendly.
Nowadays, I keep struggling to find a place where to buy 6×6 and 7×7 super cube stickers. Too bad I can’t get to find them while they were available at cubesmith (but I wasn’t good enough at supercubes back then to order then).

I still have cubesmith tiles on all my cibes upto and including the 7×7. They have been on there for well over a decade and still look in great condition! Sorry you couldn’t keep the business going you did some amazing products. Gonna have to try and do my own tiles for the v8 and 9. Won’t be as good as the cubesmiths!

I have been looking for a new source of “supercube” stickers – Cubesmith was easily the best place for them before – or a new cube with such stickers ready fitted – but no sites appear to have any at present.

Sorry to hear that you closed! Cubesmith was the best. I have a form of color blindness and I have to replace some of the colors in order to differentiate those colors…mainly red and green. Cubesmith had rich colors that made it easy for me to see. I recently purchased a v-cube 9 and need some better colors.

If you can, please bring them back, I’d like to see the infamous CubeSmith stickers.

I much preferred the thick textured sticky tiles that Cubesmith sold.

The Cubesmith textured tiles were amazing, and look brand new 10 years later! Wish i could find a set for my 5×5 now 🙁
